The Gold Nugget Mandarin Orange Tree produces juicy, easy-to-peel fruits over a long harvest season! These compact trees start blooming as early as February or March, with the fruit holding on to the tree through July and August.
This hybrid is a cross between two tangerine varieties: The Willing and Kincy. Gold Nugget Mandarins are named for their golden yellow-orange color, they’re closer to the size of an orange. The fruits have a slightly flattened, round shape and textured surface, ranging from glossy and finely pitted to externally bumpy, depending on tree maturity.
The rind is easy-to-peel, releasing bursts of fragrant oils when torn. Once removed, it reveals a bright orange flesh. The flesh is soft, tender, and mostly seedless. Gold Nugget citrus has high sugar content balanced by mild acidity, creating a sweet, fruity, and subtly tangy flavor.
Perfect for snacking and juicing, these easy to grow fruit trees are also disease resistant and even frost tolerant.
